Math illiterates?

I was flipping through all the channels on TV today and ended up watching part of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. This dude, with really nice white teeth, was on the 4000 dollar question. Question read, "In a 12-hour clock, how many degrees does an hour hand move when the minute hand moves 60 minutes?" He was stumped. Well, let's see... when the minute hand moves 60 minutes, that's an hour. There are 12 hours in a 12-hour clock, so the hour hand moves 1 hour, which is 360/12 equals to 30 degrees. He was still stumped. He decided to use 50/50. Four answers were reduced to two, 30 and 60. He was stil stumped. Oh no, he picked 60! And he was out of the game. I can't believe he lost all that money on an elementary school level math question. What's wrong with America?
