Thanksgiving

This year our Thanksgiving was short but fun. I have always loved long weekends, so a four-day weekend was more than wonderful.

On Thursday, Thanksgiving, I took Mom with me to Elvis!? Karaoke Studios. One thing I liked about Elvis was that they had songs in nine difference languages, so I was able to select older Mandarin songs that my mom knew. She always loved to sing, and it was her first time in a karaoke bar. We stayed there for almost two hours. Mom was such a song hogger. I didn't get a chance to solo until the end when she was tired. Regardless of that, I still had a lot of fun, and Mom was definitely excited and had a great time. Then for dinner, we had smoked turkey legs and homemade pastry. I think I overate again.

Friday I took Mom and Aaron to Hollywood and Griffith Observatory. The traffic was lighter than I thought. We stopped midway to have lunch in Cerritos. I used to go to Cerritos a lot when we still lived in Anaheim. They had several really unforgettable restaurants that my mom and I liked. We stopped by this dimsum place that we went years ago called Prince Seafood Palace. Their quality hasn't changed all these years. Their food was definitely better than any place in Irvine. After a delicious lunch, we headed toward Hollywood. Luckily Aaron knew the area really well so we didn't get lost. We visited Kodak Theater and Chinese Theather. We found Tom Hanks' and Arnold Schwarzenegger's hand and foot prints. I was looking hard for Lucille Ball's block but I never found it. The plaza in front of the Chinese Theater was way too crowded. After we window shopped on Hollywood boulevard, we went to the Griffith Observatory shuttle stop to catch our ride to the park. The ride was pretty good. The observatory was on top of a hill overlooking LA. Honestly I wasn't really impressed by the exhibits and the telescopes weren't open when we got there, because it wasn't night time yet, but I was very impressed by the building and the environment. Would I go there again? Probably no. Even though I have always been passionate about astronomy, my experience with observatories was full of disappointment.

And today is Monday, a rainy and gloomy cold day. Of course, every time I washed my car it would rain the next day. No big surprise that it rained today.
